According to Underhood’s reputation metrics, Europe’s stability is not in jeopardy just yet in today’s votings.

At Underhood, we measure audience engagement and other reputation-related metrics of brands and organizations almost in real time.

Austrian presidential elections

Austria will not have the EU’s first far-right head of state because Norbert Hofer has not been successful enough in his spurt during the final days of his campaign. He is still far behind Alexander Van der Bellen.

Here are today’s Underhood scores for the two candidates:

1. Alexander Van der Bellen (8.57)

2. Norbert Hofer (7.71)

Emojis used by Van der Bellen’s audience.

Italy’s referendum

Meanwhile, in Italy, center-left Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is staking his political future on a package of political reforms that is being challenged by the populist Five-Star Movement of Beppe Grillo. But it seems that the current Prime minister will win.

If we look at the personal-reputation metrics, Renzi is a clear victor:

1. Matteo Renzi (8.22)

2. Beppe Grillo (5.66)

However, on a party level, Renzi’s opponents are leading:

1. MoVimento 5 Stelle (Grillo’s party) (7.22)

2. Forza Italia (6.52)

3. Partito Democratico (Renzi’s party) (6.09)

Our prediction is that because this referendum is so focused on Renzi’s future and credibility, he will win and Italy’s constitutional law will be changed.
